Delta Academy & Delta GEMS
Empowering the Next Generation
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Youth Initiatives
Delta Academy
Delta Academy was launched in 1996 in response to the growing need to support young girls between the ages of 11 and 14 who face academic and personal challenges. This signature youth initiative of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. focuses on empowering middle school girls by providing supplemental educational experiences and leadership opportunities.
The program enhances what students are learning in school, especially in math, science, and technology and emphasizes leadership through service learning, which helps build strong relationships and a sense of purpose.
Delta Academy’s ultimate goal is to prepare young girls for leadership, success, and full participation in a global, 21st-century society.

Delta GEMS
Delta GEMS was created to help African-American girls ages 14 to 18 turn their dreams into achievable goals. This program is designed for high school-aged girls who may be considered at-risk but have the potential to succeed with the right support and guidance.
Delta GEMS provides a supportive structure to help participants develop a CAN DO attitude, focusing on personal growth, academic achievement, and future planning.
Program Goals:
-
Promote a strong commitment to academic excellence
-
Provide tools and strategies to help girls enhance their skills and achieve success
-
Encourage goal setting and prepare participants for life after high school
-
Instill a sense of community responsibility through active involvement in service projects
Why It Matters
Delta Academy and Delta GEMS are more than just programs. They are life-changing experiences designed to uplift, inspire, and equip the next generation of African-American women. Through mentoring, academic enrichment, and community service, we help young women discover their voice, their strength, and their purpose.
