ABOUT US
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is an organization of college-educated women committed to
the constructive development of its members and to public service with a primary focus on the Black
community.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is a private, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to
provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the
world. Since its founding, more than 300,000 women have joined the organization. The organization is
a sisterhood of predominantly Black, college-educated women. The sorority currently has over 1,000
collegiate and alumnae chapters located in the United States, Canada, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa),
Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Jamaica, the Republic of Korea, the Arabian Gulf,
Southern Africa and West Africa.
The major programs of the Sorority are based upon the organization’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust:
• Economic Development
• Educational Development
• International Awareness and Involvement
• Physical and Mental Health
• Political Awareness and Involvement
Built on Christian principles, Paducah Alumnae continues the service set forth by our Founders.

THE MIGHTY MIDWEST REGION

The Midwest Region of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is comprised of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the Province of Ontario. Currently, there are 119 alumnae and undergraduate chapters in the Midwest with an active membership that exceeds 8,000. Since 1926, there have been 28 Midwest Regional Directors and 27 Regional Representatives. The first Regional Representative was elected in 1970.

ABOUT PADUCAH ALUMNAE CHAPTER
Paducah Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., is a non-profit organization committed to service in the community. This chapter was chartered on May 23, 1970. Pictured below are the charter members with those sitting as the first initiates.1970 was an impactful year for the state of Kentucky for new chapters. 2020 marked the celebration of our "Golden Anniversary" with 50 years of service to our community and region through our 5-Point Programmatic Thrust: Educational Development; Economic Development; International Awareness and Involvement; and Physical and Mental Health. We are truly living our lives like they are "golden" as we give back in a substantive manner to our community.
Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. Paducah Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 1970, we’re a chapter driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support.
