DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, INC.

WHO WE ARE
Paducah Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., is a non-profit organization committed to service in the community. This chapter was chartered on May 23, 1970. Pictured below are the charter members with those sitting as the first initiates. 1970 was an impactful year for the state of Kentucky for new chapters. 2020 marked the celebration of our "Golden Anniversary" with 50 years of service to our community and region through our 5-Point Programmatic Thrust: Educational Development; Economic Development; International Awareness and Involvement; and Physical and Mental Health. We are truly living our lives like they are "golden" as we give back in a substantive manner to our community. Even in a pandemic, we were able to provide over $5000.00 in scholarships. Founded on January 13, 1913, by twenty-two collegiate women at Howard University, the Sorority is currently a sisterhood of more than 200,000 predominately Black college-educated women.
This includes 1,000 collegiate and alumnae chapters located in the United States, Canada, England, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and the Republic of Korea.
Built on Christian principles, Paducah Alumnae continues the service set forth by our Founders.

With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies for dealing with this challenge. Supporting food pantries is one of many ways we give back our community. Our yearly participation at Christmas In the Park stocks food pantries all over our city. We also support the Community Kitchen. As needs arise, we are there to respond. #alwaysfortheheartsofpeoplePAC
